ILOG JRules: a wise investment
According to a recently released report from Bloor Research, “The effective use of JRules does require some rethinking of the development process, but this should not be hard and the benefits obtained will definitely repay the effort.”

Bloor Research (www.bloor-research.com) is one of the world’s leading IT research, analysis and consultancy organizations. Supporting IT users and vendors throughout the world via online subscriptions, Bloor delivers tailored research services and consultancy projects. Its research and analysis have been acknowledged by the world’s press, other industry analysts and commentators as some of the most authoritative work ever produced on computing and business issues.

In the report, titled “ILOG JRules 6.0,” Bloor Research profiles ILOG and describes its market-leading business rule management system (BRMS). The report covers the product’s features and functionality, explaining the technology that enables ILOG JRules to deliver on its unique promise of requiring no compromise from users. As Bloor notes, ILOG’s newest version of JRules, ILOG JRules 6, is the first BRMS to fully address the needs of business users, while giving IT staff an unprecedented level of flexibility for creating and maintaining rule-based systems. The product ensures business and IT users are able to fully collaborate on applications as well. A key component to ILOG JRules’ success is a repository for centrally storing and managing business rules. This mechanism puts business and IT users on the same page, as they work with the same rules and deploy to the same applications. It also supports such crucial functionality as rule auditing for showing how policies are applied, which is widely required by industry and government regulatory bodies.

“No other product takes the separation of business rules from application logic to the level of JRules,” the report states in its summary. “The recently released JRules 6.0 has greatly improved functionality, chiefly in its support of the business user, and also the performance and scalability of the runtime engine.”
